SMALL SIDED GAMES

In 2008, FFA in conjunction with Member Federations, Zones Associations and Clubs will be rolling out Small-Sided Games (SSG). This rollout will be staged commencing primarily with the younger age groups moving through the ages in 2009 and beyond.

SSG have been extremely well received and supported by Member Federations, Zones, Associations and Clubs. The feedback for the smaller fields and reduced playing numbers with an emphasis on player development has been very positive, Clubs and parents see the end result that by touching the ball more the children will become better players and enjoy their football experience much more. The education of this message remains the main priority and early suggestions are proving that the rollout will be very successful both in 2008 and the over the next few years to complete the implementation of SSG through ages 6 – 12.

ELLIOTT JONES

Former Ipswich City junior and goalkeeper Elliot Jones made his debut for Tamworth FC in England this weekend, in the Blue Square Football Conference.

Sadly Tamworth went down 3-1 to Southport.

Elliott enjoyed most of his junior years playing for Ipswich City from U7 to U13 before leaving to develope his skills with Queensland Academy of Sport. While at Ipswich City , Elliott was selected to play with BSDJSA rep teams where he had great success between the posts for a few years.

Elliott's Dad, Rob, is a former director at Ipswich City. Rob was the club teasurers for a few years including the years leading up to the building of the new clubhouse.

Congratulations to Elliott, Rob & Kim from everyone at Ipswich City. Not bad for someone that never wanted to play in goals. El, don't forget where you came from!

(MATCH REPORT)

Lambs boss Gary Mills was forced to give youngster Elliot Jones a start between the posts against Southport after regular shot stopper Alex Cisak was ruled out with a hamstring problem. Mills had tried to sign a replacement and although it had looked like a previous Tamworth keeper may well have made a return to the Lamb it was not to be and Jones was given his chance.
Four other changes came to the eleven from the previous Saturday’s defeat at Solihull - with Des Lyttle coming back suspension, Jamie Reed replaced Colin Marrison up front, and Dave Bampton and Dominic Langdon returned from injury.

A Lambs corner came on 8 but Southport broke and Jones was called into action for the first time. He collected the ball and threw it out looking for a Lambs defender but Tony Gray picked up the loose ball and shot high and wide from distance.
Then on 13 Michael Rae crossed low from the right, Jones failed to collect and despite Des Lyttle trying to clear the loose ball Gray put the ball in from inside the six yard box. (0-1)

Jones saved well on 33 from a Rae turn and shot from 20 yards out, diving low to his right to push the ball wide as Southport exerted some sustained pressure for the first time in the game as Jones collected under his cross bar on 35 from Rae’s header.
Then on 41 Gray finished with a great strike from the edge of the area after a Craig McAughtrie put the ball into the danger area when perhaps it should have been cleared out allowing Southport to capitalise and extend their lead (0-2).

HT: 0-2

Southport’s third goal came on the 51st minute and was a goal that deserved Gray’s hat-trick. Although Tamworth will be annoyed that they gave a freekick away in such a dangerous area there was no doubting that the set piece had been worked on many times in training by the Sandgrounders and the rising shot past Jones from Gray, from just outside the area was well struck (0-3).
Chris Nurse pulled a goal back from very close range after Drench failed to come out and collect Marrison’s low flicked header into the area (1-3) on 62 and on 64 Marrison won a freekick 25 yards out which Sheldon lined up and struck well but Drench collected at the second attempt.

CAR BREAK-INS

Ipswich City Soccer Club would like to advise visitors to Sutton Park to be cautious when parking your car. Over the last few weeks cars have been broken into while parked along Workshop St.

SPONSORHIP
  1. Sponsorship money that is raised must incorporate GST. The amount you raise will have GST deducted and therefore impact on the money your team is allocated. Businesses that sponsor a team should be able to claim the GST portion of their sponsorship back on their tax.
  2. Generally, businesses will only donate If they can acquire a tax benefit and they need our club to do that, the club is accountable for the money and the issuing of a tax receipt. Teams need to consider before they seek sponsorship that 10% of the finance raised for their team will go directly to the club for future junior development and equipment.
  3. The club has the right to determine where money can be spent. ICFC has an obligation to administer money in a responsible manner that reflects the values of our club and community. With this in mind, we provide the following guidelines for how team sponsorship can be utilised.
    1. Training Shirts; teams can use funds to purchase training shirts for their players. The shirts can display the sponsors' logo on the front or sleeves. Ensure you have accounted for the cost of patches or printing in the cost of your shirts. To enhance you chances of a successful sponsorship, let the sponsor know that the players will not just be wearing their shirts to training but also whenever they go shopping with their family around Ipswich,
    2. Polo shirts for coaching staff or other club clothing; Any supporter products that the club has available can be purchased for teams. This Includes caps, jackets and shirts. Sponsors logos may be placed on items. If the club does not have jackets available, the club can be approached to organise a special order from our sponsors Struddies,
    3. Specialised Coaching: Sometimes opportunities become available to utilise highly accredited coaches from both inside and outside of the club. If you know of someone who you would like to come and run a session for your team, then funds can be released from your sponsorship to cover their costs. Invited coaches must have approval from ICFC and have a current Blue Card and Coaching license,
    4. Team Break-ups; End of year break-ups are an approved expenditure for sponsorship money. Finances can contribute towards admission to perks, hire costs, food and beverages. Alcohol and other products which are inappropriate for juniors and prohibited by law are not acceptable expenditure. Valid tax invoices and receipts will need to be provided for all expenditure that used for break-ups,
    5. Any sponsorship finances that are not fully expended by October 31 will be transferred from the team into junior development and equipment. It Is the responsibility of the team manager to ensure that the team requirements for sponsorship finances are utilised by this date.

ICFC encourages all teams to seek sponsorship from the various business contacts in their team. It Is our desire to see all players have the best season they can without their families being burdened with extra cost.

Sponsorship helps this to happen.

We look forward to your team's sponsorship endeavours and wish you all the best in the coming season.

CODE OF CONDUCT

The Ipswich City Football Club would like to encourage all coaches, players, unofficial referees, spectators and guests to abide by the clubs Code Of Conduct during games at all levels. Unfortunately too often, teammates, parents, spectators and coaches don’t realise that their negative actions, verbal or nonverbal, can have a lasting effect on players. It is therefore essential for parents, coaches, officials, and even teammates to encourage those mentioned to embrace the values of good sportsmanship. There is, of course, no better way to achieve this than by leading by example and demonstrating fairness, respect and self control at all times.

The club has had a Code of Conduct in place for many years and this is used to clarify and distinguish approved and accepted professional, ethical, and moral behaviour from that which is detrimental to the development of the sport.

The Ipswich City Football Club encourages all coaches, players, referees, spectators, parents and guests to read and comply with the code of conduct at all times.
